Crewe

Crewe is a railway town and a civil parish in Cheshire East County and Cheshire West, England. The region has 71,722 citizens. Crewe is perhaps best known as a major railway junction and home to Crewe Works, a large railway engineering facility for the manufacture and overhaul of locomotives for many years, but now much smaller in scale. It was also home to the production of Rolls-Royce motor cars.

Economy

The railways continue to play a part in Crewe Work's local industry, which performs train repair and inspection. To the north of the railway station, served by DB Schenker Rail, there is still an electric locomotive maintenance depot. As a maintenance facility for a private steam company, the diesel locomotive maintenance depot has recently reopened and has undergone major structural repairs. The Bentley car factory is west of the city on Pyms Lane, the company hires around 3,500 people.
