Certified EU General Data Protection Regulation (EU GDPR) Foundation Course Overview

The EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) affects all businesses that deal with the data of EU citizens. First introduced in 2018, the Regulation provides a single directive for all countries within the European Union, which governs how they should protect and process data, as well as how it should be transferred outside the EU or EEA.

Our 2-day Certified EU General Data Protection Regulation Foundation course provides a solid understanding of what the law says, including its principles, terminology, structure and more. GDPR Foundation certification demonstrates strong fundamental knowledge of GDPR and prepares delegates to work in a wide range of roles requiring knowledge of GDPR, including Compliance Officer, Data Protection Officer, Risk Manager and more. It also prepares candidates for further GDPR study such as our GDPR Practitioner course.

The course begins with an introduction to GDPR including its terminology and structure via legal articles. From here, it defines the differences between GDPR and the Data Protection Act before introducing the principles and key roles of GDPR. The latter half of the course looks in-depth at key concepts like lawful processing, the rights of data subjects, Subject Access Requests, privacy by design and more. The course concludes with the GDPR Foundation exam, upon passing of which candidates will gain their GDPR Foundation certification.
