Brands Sell With Lean Six Sigma

It is the responsibility of the top management to create a high quality environment in an organisation by being willing to undertake Six Sigma projects. The management cannot afford to pick these projects on hearsay or randomly. It has to be doubly sure that there is no alternative but Six Sigma to remove a persistently reported defect. The Six Sigma is the most effective, efficient and agile data driven methodology for achieving near perfect quality.

Management professionals all over the world in fields as diverse as hospitals to local bodies to defence and banking are adopting the Six Sigma techniques to achieve a very high quality yield. The feat is achieved with the help of statistical tools as well as logical check valve of DMAIC. Six Sigma Certification will educate on these two important aspects of Six Sigma. A word about the two will not be out of place.

In a manufacturing process the quality specifications are first specified. The mean value of these is calculated and then a standard deviation curve is drawn. It is a bell shaped curve. Its peak is the standard mean and its limits are the extreme values within which the quality of the item manufactured must lie. Those items found to exceed the limits are called defects. The number of places that a defect has probability of occurring is called opportunity. To reduce these defects to almost zero (3.4 in a sample population of million opportunities) is the objective of Six Sigma. This is the statistical model of Six Sigma. On ground it means that the process of Standard deviation is stretched to such an extent (12 Sigma span or 6 sigma on either side of the mean) which makes defect occurrence a non-event. This statistical concept will be explained in detail in the Six Sigma Course.

As far as DMAIC check is concerned it is the most logical approach towards implementing and executing Six Sigma procedures. The Six Sigma teams “Define” the defect. That means to be sure that a defect does exist. Once that has been done it is “Measured”- to find the amount of deviation from the specifications of quality. Then it is “Analysed” to know the why and how of it. The best amongst the available solutions to remove the defects is identified. These are then “Implemented” and the new processes are “Controlled” till they prove to be effective. Six Sigma teams follow DMAIC tool to the hilt to ensure the success of a Six Sigma project. The same are projected in Six Sigma Training.

Noticeably, Six Sigma is not only a metric or a methodology to improve business processes and meet the demands of customers but it is also a complete management system by itself since it links the above two with the business strategy of the organisation. In fact it is a brand that sells. Learn all about it in Six Sigma Certification.
