Stoke-on-Trent

Stoke-on-Trent is abbreviated to Stoke is a city and unitary district with an area of 36 square miles (93 km2) in Staffordshire, England. It is part of North Staffordshire, along with the neighbouring boroughs of Newcastle-under-Lyme and Staffordshire Moorlands. The city had a population of 261,302 in 2016.

Education 

There are four local higher education schools, the City of Stoke-on-Trent Sixth Form College and Stoke-on-Trent University being the two further education colleges. Currently, they are 15 secondary schools: St Peter's Academy, Sir Thomas Boughey Academy, Discovery Academy, Ormiston Sir Stanley Matthews Academy, The Co-operative Academy of Stoke-on-Trent, Excel Academy, Haywood Academy, Ormiston Horizon Academy, Birches Head Academy, St Joseph's College, St Margaret Ward Catholic Academy, Ormiston Meridian Academy, St Thomas More Catholic Academy, Stoke Studio College (with sites in Longton and Burslem), Trentham High School and Thistley Hough Academy.

Climate

Like all of the United Kingdom, Stoke-on-Trent experiences a temperate maritime atmosphere, lacking in extreme weather conditions. Due to its proximity to the Pennines, the local area is comparatively Pennies, resulting in cooler year-round temperatures compared to the surrounding Cheshire Plain.
